PRO-SERIES EVENT

Sept. 7
OCEAN RIDGE PLANTATION CHAMPIONSHIP

Panthers Run Champion CONGRATULATIONS Zack Byrd

With extreme winds, thick rough, and fast and firm greens the course proved to be a great challenge. Zack Byrd and
Ivan Schronce finished regulation play tied with a pair of 72's even par. The first playoff hole Ivan Schronce found some trouble
off the tee but almost holed out a 45 footer to save par. It was Zack Byrd's continuous stellar play this year on the GSGT that

THIS WEEKS RULES QUESTION

Q: Does the GSGT play Local Rules as provided by the course?
A: Not Typically; The GSGT Tournament officials list all exceptions to the USGA rules on the rules sheet that players receive before each round. Typically, the tour DOES NOT follow local rules because they are not always consistent with the rules of competition for tournament golf.  Local rules, like par 3 drop zones and "all wooded area are deemed as lateral hazards" are not used for tournament play. The GSGT tournament officials reserve the right to incorporate a local rule if necessary. In that case, the local rule will always be clearly stated on the rules sheet.

Q: If my ball lies on an unpaved path in a foot print which is in the line of a tire track, can I get relief?
A: Yes, You are entitled to relief from any tire tracks made by a cart or maintenance vehicle regardless of any other existing conditions so long as you are not in a marked Hazard.

Q: If I accidentally play the wrong type of ball, how many penalty shots do I incur?
A: It depends on the exact situation, but typically you will be assed 2-shots per hole for playing the wrong ball. If a player fails to remove the ball from play once he discovers the infraction, the player is disqualified.   (See USGA Rules of Golf; Appendix I-c(i) & Appendix I-c(ii)
